  Forest Operations Information Program
Forest Operations Information Program (FOIP) - is a state of the art web-based application used to report and track forest operations inspections performed by forest industry and Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources (MNR) forest operations compliance inspectors in Ontario.

FOIP has been designed to meet the ever changing demands for compliance information. FOIP accommodates both local field practitioners and high level forest managers. Forest operations compliance inspections and management inspection information are driven by the Environmental Assessment Declaration Order for Forest Management (MNR-71) and as amended (MNR -71/2 ) which requires FOIP to provide new information for public reporting purposes. FOIP has successfully incorporated a number of changes affecting the compliance program, which was brought about by the Forest Management Planning Manual (FMPM) especially in terms of management unit annual reporting.

  FOIP Standalone Application
For those users who want to enter inspection information when they are not web-connected, FOIP provides an application that can be installed on your PCs and laptops. The installed FOIP Application provides the ability to enter inspection data and save it to your local computer. When you are back at the office and able to access the internet, you can upload your draft inspections to the FOIP central database. After you upload your draft inspections you will be able to edit and submit them on the FOIP website.
In response to Corporate Security advisory, "PSEPC Advisory AV07-004 - Multiple Vulnerabilities Identified in Sun Java Runtime Environment", the FOIP Stand Alone application was recompiled and packaged with the new jre 1.4.2_13 files. It was last updated May 4, 2010.

UPDATE: The FOIP Data Quality Research Project

Research for the FOIP Data Quality Project was completed by the end of 2011. Information from this research is currently being analyzed, filtered and synthesized into a final report which is targeted to be completed by April 30, 2012. The Inspector survey was sent to 124 inspectors, 42% of industry inspector population, and 42% of MNR inspector population. 26/50 MNR inspectors responded, while 59/74 industry inspectors responded to the survey. Overall this accounts for a 68.5% response rate which is considered excellent for this type of feedback mechanism. The Inspector reporting exercise was sent to 19 SFLs, 10 MNR districts. 13 inspectors responded, but only 11 inspectors ‘mock’ reports can be considered useable for research purposes.
If you have any questions regarding the report, please do not hesitate to contact Tiffany Sullivan, Forest Compliance Policy Analyst at (705) 945-5987.
